Emotional Intelligence is about the ability to identify, assess, and manage the emotions of yourself, of others, and of groups. It’s about knowing when and how to express emotion. It’s about controlling emotion. Assertiveness is about expressing your legitimate opinions, needs and feelings without hurting the feelings of others. It’s about standing up for your right to be treated fairly. It’s about using good communication to reduce conflict, build self-confidence and enhance relationships. Both are about feelings, sensibilities and responses so we put them both here under the Emotional Intelligence heading.
