Frequently asked questions

What are examples of influencing without authority?

Influencing without authority happens whenever you need to gain support from people who do not report to you. Examples include leading a project team, securing stakeholder buy-in, encouraging colleagues to adopt new ways of working, or persuading clients and partners to support an idea through trust and credibility.

What is the difference between traditional leadership and influencing without authority?

Traditional leadership often relies on formal responsibility for directing people and making decisions. Influencing without authority depends on building trust, credibility, and strong relationships to encourage others towards a shared goal. It is an essential skill for professionals working across teams, projects, and organisational boundaries.

Why is this such a significant topic?

Understanding how influence works – and how AI can support your preparation – can help you build stronger arguments, engage others, and give people a reason to care about what you are trying to achieve.
