Frequently asked questions

What is the Foundation Presentation Skills Training Course?

This course builds the core skills needed to present with confidence. You’ll learn how to structure your message, engage an audience, and use practical techniques to deliver effectively in different presentation settings.

How can I improve my public speaking if I'm new to presenting or rarely do it?

Start with the purpose of your presentation. It’s tempting to open PowerPoint and start creating slides, but your goal should determine what you say and how you say it. Then practise out loud. Speaking your ideas before writing them down can help you find clearer, more natural ways to express them. Keep what works, refine what doesn’t, and practise again. The aim is to make your presentation feel less like a script and more like a conversation with your audience.

How do you manage stage fright and nerves the first few times you present?

Nerves are normal. Think of them as useful. Early on, they may be telling you that you simply haven’t prepared enough. Good preparation and practice can remove much of that uncertainty and give you greater confidence in what you are going to say. Breathing techniques can also help you manage the physical effects of nerves. Box breathing, for example, can slow your breathing and heart rate, helping you feel calmer and think more clearly. The course explores these and other practical ways to manage presentation nerves.

Who is this course not for?

If you present regularly§, already feel confident doing so, or simply want to refresh and develop existing skills, our Intermediate or Advanced Presentation Skills courses are likely to be more suitable.

What's the difference between the Foundation and Intermediate Presentation Skills courses?

Foundation is designed for people who are new to presenting or have limited experience. Intermediate is for those who present more regularly: presenters who understand the basics but want to improve their impact. It goes further than the Foundation course, with more detailed methods for developing your performance.

AI generates a lot of my content, how do I make sure I can deliver it well?

Treat AI-generated content as a starting point, not a finished presentation. You still need to judge what matters, what sounds natural, and what will work for your audience. Strong presentation skills help you critically evaluate AI output, reshape it, and make the message your own.

How is AI covered in this course?

AI can help you develop a first draft and give you feedback on areas such as pacing, filler words, and eye contact. But it can’t read the room or decide what will resonate with a particular audience. Those remain human skills – and are central to this course.
