Research has found that an alarming 87% of employees worldwide are not engaged at work. 1. Show recognition & gratitude
Sometimes it’s as simple as saying thank you – 70% of employees say that motivation and morale would improve massively with managers saying thank you more. There are many ways to recognise and reward employees but never underestimate the value of a sincere but simple thank you.
2. Promote a good work-life balance
Employees who believe that they have a good work-life balance work 21% harder than those who don’t. When employees feel overworked, stressed or unfairly treated they become disengaged and disinterested in their job. Taking steps to improve the work life balance of employees such as allowing flexible working hours or occasional days working from home can help to prevent this.
3. Communicate better
Don’t leave employees in the dark. Communicating business plans with employees will help them to see the bigger picture and allow them to understand how their contributions make a difference. If employees understand where they fit into the equation they are more likely to work harder in order to achieve their own goals and the goals of the business too. 6. Listen & change
Ask employees for feedback and then listen to that feedback and make positive changes. If employees feel they have a voice that is heard and that matters they will have a stronger sense of worth. This process will also help to find any problems within the company and allow for improvements to be made in order to keep morale, job satisfaction and motivation high.
