Diversity is too often seen as a challenge, it shouldn't be. It should be seen as an opportunity.
Jo Rice - Cultural Diversity Consultant
Author of over 50 books, including 'Doing Business In Japan', Jo is national chairman of the cricket charity The Lord's Taverners and above all a cultural diversity specialist.
Jo's interest in the effects of cultural diversity in the business environment began after he left Cambridge, where he read Japanese, with a move to the Far East. After a period with a Hong Kong trading house he set up the successful Japanese subsidiary of Smith Industries.
His various corporate roles then took him throughout East Asia with particular interests in South Korea and Japan.
Now working with clients that span four continents he consults on all aspects of cultural diversity including organisational and cultural change; cultural due diligence before and after mergers; and effective in-house communication styles and techniques for multi-national companies.
Jo's experience has been invaluable to the many sectors he has worked in and at present he is carrying out programmes on aspects of multi-cultural team building and communications in the pharmaceuticals, banking, law, education and electronic communications industries.
