Derreck is an administrator and an implementer. Someone who goes into businesses, schools and colleges to manage corporate projects, recruit and supervise staff – even to establish corporate missions and focus corporate philosophies. Above all, though, he’s an educator who rejoices in designing worthwhile, demanding and relevant training programmes, delivering those programmes to audiences who’ll benefit from them, and celebrating the transformations that follow.
It’s this devotion to the training-coach’s art and the life-changes it can bring when practised expertly, that led us to invite Derreck to join Working Voices. We’re glad he agreed.
Derreck was born and raised in the USA. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Guilford College, North Carolina and a Master’s Degree in Education from Sacred Heart University, Connecticut.
His personal life-change came in 2007 when he was hired as a Consultant to Shanghai educators and administrators entrusted with the task of designing a unique English teaching methodology. He’s lived in China since and his consultancy responsibilities have consistently grown and diversified. Training and mentoring, though, remain his obsession. During his time in China he has coached municipal employees in Cultural Sensitivity and Problem Solving, devised and developed work-related training programmes for business professionals, and constructed efficiency programmes for widely varied Shanghai-based undertakings – from Architects to Hospitals.
Derreck trains for Working Voices in Presentation Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Personal Brand, Emotional Intelligence, Business Writing and Voice Coaching. And one glance at his background tells you that he brings to all of them real expertise, real enthusiasm and real commitment.
“Dynamic style …”, “… energetic delivery”, “… thoroughly engaging …”. They and similar compliments are the words Clients regularly use to describe the professionalism of Derreck’s approach. We’ve seen his work at close quarters. It’s all true.
