Begoña Castro - Head of Development

Petrochemicals, IT and, prominently, Investment Banking are the sectors in which Begoña has excelled since gaining her International Business Degree in 2001.

Learning and Development is her specialism. Understanding and meeting the needs of Human Resources Departments – and the businesses they serve – is what her career has centred on.

So it really isn’t hard to imagine why we seized the chance to recruit her to the Working Voices team. Together with Founder and Managing Director Nick Smallman, Begoña leads our ongoing drives for Quality Assurance, Total Client Satisfaction and Business Development.

Her CV is impressive. Variously with TotalFinaElf, Amadeus IT, Morgan Stanley, State Street Bank and Global Advisers and Barclays Capital – and in various parts of the world – she has led L&D teams in (among many other things):

• Developing and strengthening client relationships and becoming a trusted partner on L&D and OD issues
• Determining most appropriate client solutions and ensuring delivery of relevant and effective client solutions
• Working across Europe, the US and Asia Pacific to effectively support learning and development activities in a globally consistent yet locally tailored way
• Developing procedures, tools and processes that i) support the implementation of a structured Career Development Process ii) provide tools and guidelines to facilitate career planning for individuals
• Identifying training needs, providing advice, helping to organise and deliver suitable learning interventions

In short, she speaks the same language as the HR and L&D Departments we deal with daily both in the UK and in the USA. (And talking of languages, Begoña is multi-lingual too for those who prefer the discussion to be conducted in Spanish or French.)

Having spent many years of her life abroad, Begoña now lives in South London and occupies her leisure time with reading, photography and Latin-American Dancing.
