Low stress, the healthy option

The workplace is a high-stress environment - which is no bad thing so long as those within it are primed to manage that stress constructively.

Stress can be a positive and appropriate force; a motivator towards reaching our highest potential. Becoming overwhelmed, though, is anything but positive. It leads to profound difficulties for employee and employer alike.

There are plenty of statistics showing the annual cost of stress-related illness to UK business - 13.4 million working days lost, for instance. The cost to personal well-being and efficiency cannot be quantified so easily.

stress management, low stress - the healthy option

On this course, Dr Tim Green, Chartered Clinical Psychologist and workplace stress expert, shows how to minimise negative stress and to maximise work performance and quality of life.

In a half-day seminar, Tim gives you a guided tour through the physical, behavioural and emotional signs and effects of stress, before moving on to how you can control and benefit from it both proactively (before you’re beset) and reactively (while you're under attack).

And, after that, you'll receive an entirely confidential one-to-one session with Tim when you can confront and discuss your own stress challenges, and make plans to beat them.

Tim's mission is to turn bad stress into good stress (to turn "Distress" into "Eustress", to use the technical terminology). Look at these two columns and you'll see instantly what he means.
